The Green School Committee 2018 achieved their 6th flag in June this year. The flag covered the theme of Global Citizenship – Litter and Waste. This was a previous theme within our school but the committee worked hard on accomplishing a global approach as well. We investigated another country with less waste and how they reduce their waste. We chose Sweden as a teacher who used to work in the school, Ms. Murphy is currently living there.
We celebrated diversity within our school through International Culture day in February. This was a big success with the help of parents who came to visit classrooms to talk to the students, different projects being carried out and different cultures and religions being explored by each class. This will take place again this school year.
Some of the Green School committee members had the chance to go to a Green Schools Roadshow which gave us some new ideas for our committee. We also got the chance to draw and plan our ideal school, which was the highlight of the day!
The award ceremony was a great day out with our 6th class
representatives bringing home our latest Green School flag to show off
to the school for all our hard work.
We had a celebration day in June this year to celebrate our achievements
along with the Amber flag committee. An ice-cream truck came, we had
lots of games and got to dance around in bubbles.
This year we plan on working towards the next flag, the Global Citizenship – Energy flag. This will recap the actions we did towards achieving our Energy flag a few years ago.
